Adds a trt_class column mapping each treatment level to its treatment class via med_levels, then partitions the data into two groups: rows belonging to a class defined in med_levels and rows that do not.

Usage

split_treatment_classes(events, med_levels, tx_name = "tx_name")

Arguments

events

Event dataframe with columns for treatment name, treatment start and stop dates, plus a column for unique patient identifiers.

med_levels

An optional named list mapping treatment classes to their constituent levels.

Example:

med_levels = list(statin = c( "low_intensity_statin", "moderate_intensity_statin", "high_intensity_statin" ) )

Default value: NULL

tx_name

A string specifying the column name in events holding treatment names

Default value: "tx_name"

Value

A named list with two elements: leveled_trts (rows whose treatment belongs to a class in med_levels) and non_leveled_trts

(all other rows). Both dataframes include a trt_class column.
